Highly Capable services (Classroom Based and Self-Contained)
Grades K-8Grades 2 and 5 are universally reviewed unless families opt out; other grades need a referral. A placement committee reviews academic data (FastBridge, Smarter Balanced) and, for grades 1-7, CogAT results; the district gives the CogAT only as needed.

- Self-Contained services (FTQ/MSQ): 3+ academic scores at or above the 98th percentile in literacy and in math, plus advanced cognitive thinking at or above the 98th percentile. source
- Classroom Based Services: 3+ scores at or above the 90th percentile in math and/or reading. Kindergarten: 2+ scores above the 98th percentile, no cognitive data needed. No weights are assigned to data points. source

- Appeal or portfolio review request: March 2027. source
Appeals / retesting: Families may submit an appeal or portfolio review request in March 2027 if they believe there was an error. source
