Highly Capable (HC) services

Grades 1-11

Students in grades 1 and 4 are reviewed automatically (universal screening); first graders take the Naglieri General Ability Test. Other grades need a referral, but eligibility is decided mostly on achievement data (MAP reading and math and others) by a placement committee. Students can qualify in reading, math or both. Private test results are not considered.

Published criteria

  • Primary benchmark: scores generally more than 2.2 standard deviations above national norms across multiple academic measures (about the top 1% nationally). No NGAT score criterion is published. source
